Dr Francesca Sobande is a Lecturer in Digital Media Studies at Cardiff University..
Her research focuses on matters regarding race, gender, media and the marketplace. It particularly explores issues concerning digital culture and intersecting inequalities, as well as power and experiences of higher education.
Francesca is author of The Digital Lives of Black Women in Britain (Palgrave Macmillan, forthcoming 2020). She is also co-editor with Professor Akwugo Emejulu of To Exist is to Resist: Black Feminism in Europe (Pluto Press, forthcoming 2019).
Francesca successfully defended her PhD thesis in May 2018, which focused on issues regarding digital blackness and the experiences of Black women (Digital Diaspora and (Re)mediating Black Women in Britain).
